Why You Should Stop Using Your Traditional Shaving Cream

For many generations, men have practiced the fine art of utilizing a sharp blade and shaving cream to remove facial hair. But, what these respectable gentleman were not made aware of is just how toxic shaving cream truly is.

A shaving soap is a more natural, healthy option for shaving because it does not contain harmful toxins that are often found in shaving creams. A shaving cream can be full of carcinogens and chemicals that aren't great to have on your skin or even breathe into the air around you. Shaving soaps do not harmfully affect people's health, and it can be a better choice for shaving.

Shaving cream may have been the only option available in years past, but now there are other shaving products that work much better than shaving creams have been introduced to the market. Shave soap is a great alternative to shaving cream because of its many benefits.

But why is traditional shaving cream so terrible? More specifically, why should you drop it faster than the time my wife shattered my acting aspirations?

Shaving Cream is Packed With Harmful Chemicals

Shaving cream is full of harmful chemicals that can be potentially dangerous for your skin. Shave soap, on the other hand, does not contain any of these harsh chemicals and instead relies on natural ingredients to get the job done. This makes shave soap a much safer option for those with sensitive skin. In addition to being more gentle , shaving soap also provides a better lather for shaving. It is created by mixing water with shaving soap, which allows the cream to foam much easier when applied to your face. This makes it less likely that you will miss any spots while shaving and cuts down on how often you need to shave in order to get clean results.

Toxic Chemicals

Numbing Agents, are placed in most shaving creams to ensure you do not feel small cuts while shaving. This is one of the leading causes of razor burn. When you are not feeling the pain, you are more likely to go over the same spot multiple times, which will cause razor burn. Shaving cream also contains other harsh chemicals that can irritate your skin and lead to razor burn. Shave Soap does not contain any of these harsh chemicals.

Surfactant Chemicals, are synthetic lubricants that cause the skin to form an alkaline like barrier. This prevents your skin from maintaining the proper hydration needed to prevent dry skin and early aging. Shave soap doesn't have these chemicals and will not dry your skin out. Shaving cream also contains other harmful ingredients which can clog pores.

Mineral Oils, are used to lubricate the skin while shaving, but research has shown mineral oil clogs pores and leads to acne and/or infections. Shaving soap, on the other hand, is a much better option for your skin. Shave soap creates a thick lather which helps to protect your skin from the blade while shaving. It also contains ingredients which are beneficial for your skin, such as glycerin and shea butter. Shave soap will not clog your pores like mineral oil. (More on this in an upcoming entry)

Glycols, are very commonly used chemicals such as ethylene glycol and butylene glycol. These chemicals are known to cause dry skin, rashes, dermatitis, and are possibly linked to kidney and blood disorders. More and more shaving enthusiasts are turning to Shave Soap as a healthier alternative. It's important not to confuse shaving soap with the shaving cream in a can. While they may both seem like good alternatives, shaving creams contain high amounts of glycols which cause skin problems such as dryness and rashes when used regularly over time.

Isopentate, is a solvent found in shaving cream that is used to stabilize the formula. This chemical is known to cause dry skin, dizziness, throat irritation, and headaches. Isopentate is found in shaving cream, but you can switch to shaving soap for a healthier alternative. Shaving soaps are known to moisturize the skin and leave it feeling silky smooth after shaving. You should stop using your traditional shaving cream because Isopentates cause dryness, throat irritation, headaches and dizziness.

BHT, was rated as the one of the most toxic chemicals by the Federal Agency for Toxic Substances in 1992. This Chemical is still present in traditional shaving creams today. It is an endocrine disruptor, which means it can interfere with the body's hormone system. This can cause reproductive and developmental problems, as well as cancer.

Phthalates are another harmful ingredient found in shaving cream. These chemicals are often referred to as "gender benders" because they can mimic the effects of hormones in the opposite gender.

Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) is a compound that is used many different industrial processes, including as a degreaser, an engine cleaner, and a garage floor cleaner. This same compound is also found in most traditional shaving creams. SLS is a known skin irritant, and can cause rashes, dryness, and redness.

Triclosan is an antimicrobial agent that is found in many different personal care products, including shaving cream. This chemical has been linked to liver damage, hormone disruption, and antibiotic resistance.

This shaving cream that we all know and love is usually made up of chemicals like Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, which can be found in car washes, garage floor cleaners... AND FOR YEARS WE WERE PUTTING THIS ON OUR FACE!!!!!!

By now you're probably wondering if there is an all natural alternative to in a very mildly polite way say "I'm not going to take it anymore!" Fortunately, there is a natural alternative to shaving cream known as Shave Soap

Shave soap is a natural alternative to shaving cream, and also serves as a gentleman's way of, in a mildly polite way saying "Shaving cream, you're fired!"

Shave soap is made of all natural ingredients, which can help to soothe and protect the skin against razor burn, nicks, and cuts. It also helps to moisturize the skin, which is perfect for those who have dry or sensitive skin.

One of the great things about shave soap is that it's very easy to use, it's a natural alternative, and does not contain harmful chemicals.

To use shave soap, simply wet your face with warm water, and then lather up the soap with a brush. Apply the lather to your face, and then shave as usual. Rinse your face with warm water when you're done, and then apply an aftershave lotion to help soothe the skin.
